Let me tell you a brief story to prove it.

PPC Paramedic analyzed 40 roofing accounts. These were accounts of contractors who were actually using the software.

Each one of the 40 accounts was using the keyword phrase “roofing contractor near me”. And it was set up in all the accounts as an “exact match” keyword phrase.

What this means is that Google was only supposed to show the roofer’s ads if someone typed in “roofing contractor near me” or something VERY similar that has the same meaning.

Here’s what the software found:

Over a four week period, Google was showing the ads for 159 distinct search terms! They did not have the same exact meaning as “roofing contractor near me”. Google was wasting the contractors ad spend! (I’ll leave it up to you to decide if wasting equals stealing.)

There is no way an ad manager can manage this and shut all these search terms off. Each of the 40 accounts saw no more than 25 of these bad search terms. The rest are invisible to them. And they are money-wasting garbage.

PPC Paramedic was able to build a mega block list. It essentially told Google: “No Google. You can’t do this. STOP showing the roofing contractors ads for these garbage search terms that don’t bring them any new business.”
